Faith formation for children and youth is a time to communicate Christ, instill the love of God, and pass on the richness of the Catholic faith. For some, it is also a time to prepare for the sacraments.
*Sacramental Preparation classes (1st-5th grade) are offered on Sundays, 10am - 11:30am at St. Philip's, Lyman.
*Sacramental Preparation classes (5th - 8th grade) are offered on Wednesdays at St. James's School in Biddeford after classes let out (normally 2:30pm - 3:45pm)
Faith Formation classes (Prek-5th grade) are offered at the same time as Sacramental Preparation classes on Sundays, 10am-11:30am.
Alternative Parent/Child Faith Formation classes (for all ages) are offered on Tuesdays from 3pm - 4:15pm at St. Joseph's, Biddeford.
*CHILDREN PREPARING TO RECEIVE THE SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION AGES 6-11 PLEASE NOTE:The Diocese of Portland requires children to attend faith formation or Catholic school for two consecutive years – between ages 6 and 11 - to prepare for the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. Each year of formation is to include adult catechesis, parent and child retreats, and interviews; the program is designed to help your family prepare for the gift of these sacraments. So, if your child is beginning the first year of preparation this fall, he/she will receive the sacraments in 2026. Your child must be baptized prior to him or her receiving 1st Holy Communion or Confirmation and you will be required to give a copy of your child's baptism certificate to the parish.
If your child (of any age/grade level) is not baptized please contact our office as soon as possible for instruction; if your child has been baptized
If you are interested in having your child participate in faith formation classes, youth ministry or prepare to receive 1st communion, 1st reconciliation and/or confirmation, please fill out the form below or in person at the parish office during business hours. You can call or email Mirjana Northrop at [email protected] or call 207-282-3321 x115 for more info or questions.
