Fr. P. Antonydass – he prefers to be called Father Antony – was born on February 23, 1973, in a small village in Tamilnadu, India. His parents are Pichaimuthu and Lourdumary. He has two brothers and one sister.
He completed his primary and high school studies in his home town. After completing high school at the age of 15, he joined the Society of Heralds of Good News. He then studied philosophy and theology in Andhra Pradesh, India. He was ordained a priest in the Great Jubilee Year of the Lord – 2000. He was appointed Priest-in-Charge of Mulakallaplli Tribal Mission and Principal of St. Mary’s School (2001-2003). He served as Manager of St. Joseph’s High School and the Pastor of St. John Maria Vianney Parish, Yernagudem, India (2003-2008). He also served as the Educational Secretary of the schools of Mary Queen of the Apostles Province, India (2008-2009).
He has been awarded the following academic degrees: Bachelors of Philosophy, Theology, Education and Literature; Masters degree in English Literature and Philosophy. He completed post-graduate studies at Andhra University, India.
Bishop Richard Malone, Bishop of Portland, appointed him Parochial Vicar of Good Shepherd Parish on February 5, 2010. On July 1, 2010, he began serving the communities of St. Margaret/St. Luke in Old Orchard Beach and St. Philip in Lyman as those Churches became part of Good Shepherd Parish.
He wants everyone to know that “I am very happy to serve the Lord and His people in this parish.”
